Upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro transfer to your hotel for a four night stay, where your evening is at leisure. Rio de Janeiro has, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most stunning settings in the world; golden beaches and Samba-fuelled nightlife set against a cinematic backdrop of lush mountains and the iconic Corcovado. Rio’s beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema have long seduced visitors, offering a playground that’s free and open to all. During your stay, enjoy tours of Corcovado, Sugar Loaf Mountain and a Samba show.
Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Iguassu. On arrival, visit the Argentine side of the Falls and the Devils Throad, one of South America’s most impressive natural landmarks. (B)
First, explore the Brazilian side of the falls with a two kilometre walk into the gorge for unobstructed and panoramic views. The last outlook places you directly in front of the awesome Devil’s Throat falls, where you will get wet! This afternoon, your guide will take you across the border to the Argentine side with its two circuits of boardwalks. The Upper Circuit winds its way along the top of the canyon, allowing you to look down on the falls and appreciate the area’s rich flora and fauna. Weather permitting, you will be able to experience a close encounter with the fearsome Devil’s Throat waterfall. The Lower Circuit offers the best views of the falls as they come hurtling over the edge. (B)
Enjoy an optional helicopter ride over the falls or an unforgettable boat journey to get up close to the magnificent thundering waters (not included). Transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires and check into your hotel for a four night stay. Evening at leisure. (B)
Uncover the wonders of sophisticated Buenos Aires, the ‘Paris’ of South America, where you can indulge in wonderfully flavourful steaks washed down with a glass of Argentinean Bonarda. Be fascinated and entertained by the city’s chaotic energy and for its sheer urban beauty. Be prepared to stay up all night as this city doesn’t sleep; with its diverse range of bars, clubs and live-music venues there is something for everyone, as well as the city’s greatest contribution to the outside world; the Tango. Visit the Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosado and Parrillason. Experience life on an Argentine ranch and indulge in a mouth-watering barbecue or Parrillada, with typical folk music and dancing.
Transfer from your hotel in Buenos Aires to the cruise port where you will embark your Holland America Line ship for your 14 night cruise of South America. (LD)
Experience all that your Holland America Line ship has to offer on your cruise. The first stop is Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo. Founded in 1726 as a fortress against the Portuguese, Montevideo appears humble at first, but underneath is a seriously cool, confident city, with streets reminiscent of those in the Cuban capital of Havana. The city is a hive of crumbling houses, cobbled streets, museums and galleries, while the highlight is the glorious marketplace of Mercado del Puerto. Uncover Puerto Montt, known for its ominous and celestial volcanoes before sailing to further into the delights of South America from Punta Arenas to the dramatic, fantastical, otherworldly Ushuaia. Truly the end of the world, Ushuaia is positioned at the southernmost tip of Argentina. This memorable port town is cradled between the pristine and towering Martial Mountains and accessed by the picturesque Beagle Channel. (BLD)
Disembark the ship in Santiago and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)
